GlobalSMS runs as a service on a server - typically the SQL server but it can run on any system which can connect to the Microsoft SQL server. It scans the communications table on a regular basis - typically every few minutes - finding communications of type SMS, reading the Details field which has the body of the text, merging fields if required, then sending the text via the StrikeIron GlobalSMS web service.
Architecture
When messages are sent a tracking ID is appended to the message text and later used
to trace the message to confirm receipt by the recipient - though this depends to some extent on the facilities provided by the network.
Messages are sent to the cell/mobile number given in the person's contact record. They are sent from the user's mobile
number as set up in Sage CRM. If not specified a default centrally set number can be used.
